Sikkim

Tagged with various comments such as `paradise', `new house' or `the hidden valley of rice', in Sikkim, you can discover a stunningly beautiful nature. The land, which is vibrant by its own terms of culture and festivals, is too much for any tourist to explore. Well, the challenging job of discovering this mystically wonderful land comes with a whole lot of fascinating experiences.

Sharing borders with Nepal and Bhutan, Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim is located at an altitude of 5,800 feet. The place is quite famous for its view of Khangchendzonga – the third largest mountain in the world. Well, the city of Gangtok not only comes with the raw beauty of nature, but is also equipped with a cosmopolitan atmosphere with providing the provision for all the amenities for tourists.

 
With some of the best and vibrant shopping complexes lining up there, the street of MG Marg can be an excellent place to chill out. Take a short journey from Gangtok, you will reach at ‘Tsomgo Lake’. One of the highest altitudes Himalayan lakes, Tsomgo Lake is in an oval shape and has a length of 1 km. It serves the needs for an excellent outing that is combined with a small amount of risk as well.

On the other hand, you can consider ‘Pelling’ as a great option for enjoying the spectacular beauty of the mighty Himalayas and the Kanchenjanga range. While you happen to visit ‘Pelling’, the local monastery, the rock garden and waterfall at nearby Rimbi should be included in the list of must visit places therein. Also take a visit to the Singshore Bridge, the Chhange Waterfalls and the Khechuperi Lake. And when you consider the imposing ‘Yumthang Valley’, at an elevation of 14,000 ft, this one is home to the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, wherein it has some over twenty-four species of Rhododendron.

The panoramic view of snow capped peaks too is at a short distance from the place. ‘Chungthang’ is in a sense, caters the needs for quite a whole variety of orchid plants and is indeed a place with some immense scope for being a biodiversity hotspot. The starting point of the river Tista, you can have a look at the important valleys of Lachung and Lachen from ‘Chungthang’.

On the other hand, the ‘Gurudongmar Lake’ is considered as one of the highest lakes in the world and is just 5 kilometers away from the Chinese border. On the other hand, ‘Ravangla’, which is the transit point for Menam Hills and Borong, the place is in the close proximity of some of the most prolific mountains in the region. Offering all round tourism activities, ‘Namchi’ is situated at an altitude of 5500 feet above the sea level. During the months of February, it hosts the famous flower festival. Also don’t miss an opportunity to visit the ‘Temi Tea Garden’, which is established by the Government of Sikkim. Considered as one of the best in the world, this one is the only tea garden in Sikkim.
