Hampi

Reinforcing your love and passion!

Giving a pause to city life, Hampi is definitely two days of complete and absolute bliss. Hampi is the erstwhile capital of the Vijaynagar Empire. It is like a breath of fresh air. The monuments and the temples in Hampi are marvelous portrayal of art that for calls the history. The spread and magnitude of the demolished structures evoke fear with winded respect in it. Those who like history always, Hampi is the best destination which only reinforces that love and passion! There is no doubt that you will fall in love with Hampi, same like that of a student of history does.

Hampi is lifetime knowledge with the environment. The tall coconut trees, the innumerable boulders, the sugarcane plantations which all define the Hampi landscape. The very simple life style of those simple villages which portrays the images of herds of cows and goats being led by men clad in typical South Indian style 'lungi' is a scene that will catch your heart. The Tungabhadra River with the coracles ferrying people, create the perfect backdrop for the Hampi ruins.

Hampi portrays several images that have left indelible impressions. They appear like snapshots as we pen them down. One such is the view of the Achutaraya Temple.Achutaraya Temple is the perfect absorption of history and nature, each complimenting the other. Even today, although it is has been stripped of all; the Vitthala Temple is yet another inspiring sight. The delicate flowers and fluid dancers with sensuous curves and mesmerizing mandalas are totally filled with what the creator has to communicate. In certain places, reminders of ancient color can be seen on the wall. You get only the chance to guess what it would have been once in that full bloom. Hampi stays out revealing the history of temple building tradition that dominated the architecture of South India. Hampi boasts of a large number of temple complexes with various displays of craftsmanship that are living testimony to the perseverance and skill displayed by the artists. Achutaraya temple, Virupaksha temple, Krishna temple, Hazara Rama temple, Pattabhirama temple, Vitthala temples are a few to mention. The bas relief works on the pillars of the mandapa reveals the degree of artistic excellence attained during that era.
