The name Matheran simply means either ‘Forest on Top’ or ‘Woodland overhead’. Matheran is a popular and breath taking site for adventure lovers. There are rock climbing and paragliding in Matheran. This hill station is the heart and soul for trekking rested on Western Ghats mountain range in Maharashtra. The place discloses the dense green cover, of eco friendly environment and pleasant climate with its scenic beauty. Matheran literally means ‘forest on the head’, which refers to the thick forests at the hill top.

If you visit Matheran you should never miss the experience of the toy train which connects Neral with Matheran which is one of the popular tourist attractions. A trip to Matheran is totally incomplete until you take a ride in the train. The train ride offers a spectacular view of nature and the sight of the toy train chugging along the mountain-side is a not-to-be-missed experience.
