Silent valley
is a brilliant mystery which is half-revealed and half-concealed of what is now
a part of a story older than human race, where this rain forest takes back to
50 million years. Silent Valley is the most ecologically diverse areas on the
planet, with a rich mosaic of varied habitats. She beckons us to witness the
marvelous ebullience of life that narrates itself in an incredible bedlam of
plants, animals and birds. At the core of her heart many songs is a motionless,
only those who stride in deep silence could learn to hear.
Some people
while walking through it sometimes got a possibility of passing an inner
revolution, could possibily ask the question: “Oh Mother am I thy flesh and
blood, feel and fever; shall I be thine and would you be mine?" That
Silent question will be responded to in Silence; in the Silence by the
reverential bowing of human will and the trailing branches of trees in Silent
Valley.
The Silent
Valley National Park with an area of 90 sq km is located in the Northeastern
corner of Palakkad district. It is a true Garden of Eden for students who deal
with life sciences. Perhaps, we couldn’t find such a representative collection
of Western Ghats biodiversity anywhere else with more than 1000 species of
flowering plants which include about more than hundred species of orchids, 30-40 species of mammals
and yet more than hundred species of butterflies, 400 species of moths, and lot
more that is seen in South India.
The River
Kunthi descends from the Nilgiri
hills, from a height of 2000 m above the sea level and covers the entire length of the valley rushing
down through the deep forest. The River Kunthi is always very pure and crystal
clear, perennial and wild. This is yet another attraction of Silent Valley. Silent
Valley offers you a very cooling climate that attracts each traveler to this
eccentric beauty.
