Andaman and Nicobar Islands


Going on a journey to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, can give you an exhilarating experience. The places offers some spectacular scenery, where in you get to see the white sandy beaches, monuments and museums, world-class diving experiences and to name a lot.

The Andaman and Nicobar islands contains 362 volcanic islands spread in the Bay of Bengal. Out of the whole islands, it is only 37 that are being inhabited. The journey to these lush green Islands will be rich with various stories tickling you from the past invasions from the side of the French, Dutch, Japanese and British took place in the island.

Among the many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Cellular Jail, Located at Port Blair, might be the biggest crowd puller. The Jail, which witnessed numerous inhuman activities during the freedom struggle, are a must watch for anyone who throngs to these group of Islands. ‘Marina Park’
on the other hand, offers some of the best experiences there in the Island with a perfect blend of amusement and thrills. This amusement park, which is the first of its kind in India, this one is the best water sports in the country. On the other hand ‘Gandhi Park’, which is in the heart of Port Blair, too is a great place to explore with a wide variety of options available to you. 

‘Anthropological Museum’, which is small and informative, is an ethnographic museum. Giving a deep insight to the four Negrito tribes of the Andaman and two Mongoloid tribes of the Nicobar, this one explores the various photographs and cultural background of them. And don’t forget to explore ‘Chatham’, which has one of the biggest and oldest sawmills in Asia.

The other interests in and around Andaman includes, ‘Ross Island’, which has a small museum named as ‘Smritika’ that has a rich collection of antiques during the British reign there. The Naval Marine Museum, ‘Samudrika’ houses wide varieties of corals and you can also explore a lot of colorful fishes in these islands.

The two Islands – ‘Jolly Buoy and Red Skin Islands’, offers a breathtaking underwater view of coral and marine life. An ideal place for snorkeling and sea bathing, there lays a beautiful garden under the water. Taking a short drive from the Island groups will land you is some amazing places such as Long Island, Mount Harriet, Diglipur, Havelock Island , Neil Island , Chidiatapu , Mayabunder etc. all of which are in close proximity with the group of Islands. 

On the other hand, the Little Andaman Island that is at a distance of 120 km away from Andaman and Nicobar Islands has some beautiful beaches, plantation of coconut palm and water fall as well. When you consider Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the one that often comes quick to your mind would be the innumerous adventures that it offers. You can have an amazing experience of diving there in the Islands, and you can also expect to get in touch with some diving centers as well. The Islands that best explores the diving experience are Cinque Island, Havelock Island, Snake Island etc.
