Kullu - Manali, Himachal Pradesh

Manali can be an ideal spot for newly – wed couples and no wonder that many choose the same place for honeymoon trips. The place, which offers a refreshing atmosphere throughout the year, however will look most beautiful when its filled with snow. Situated among the Himalayan regions, ‘Kullu Manali’ is filled with high trees carrying apples and plums. There are quite some interesting places in the region and we will start counting with the temples first.

‘Basheshwar Mahadev Temple’ is touted as the largest one herein and is a spectacular creation as well.  The temple is built according to the typical Pahari style and is a great experience while taking a visit there. On the other hand, ‘Bijli Mahadev Temple’ happens to be one of the toughest temples that you would find to reach. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temples however resembles with that of the ‘Bhuvneshwari Temple’, which happens to be built according to the Pahari style, once again. You can have Kangra – styled paintings of Durga across the temple walls and can have a spectacular look of the stone lion placed in the courtyard.

However, ‘Vaishno Devi Temple’ is a relatively new adding and you can take a visit to the temple that is dedicated to the patron deity of Kullu. If you want to experience the glory of the famous Kullu Dusshera celebrations, then ‘Raghunath Temple’ therein is the ideal site. You can find tons of interesting temple works and arts in ‘Temples of Naggar’, ‘Temples of Manikaran’,’ Temples of Banjar’ and ‘Temples of Manali’.

Well, taking a list of the other interesting pieces, we have Naggar Castle there, which has been converted into a heritage hotel recently. The castle, which was built almost 600 years ago, was the home of the Raja of Kullu. Offering a spectacular view of the Naggar Valley, the castle also showcases you the ‘Roerich Art Gallery’. ‘Urusvati Himalayan Folk Art Museum’, on the other hand, is located in Naggar and the museum has an exquisite collection of embroideries and folk art objects, Russian art, musical instruments and to name a few others as well.

The ‘Dechen Choekhor Monastery’, which is located in Manali, is a newly-built monastery that houses monks and lamas. Similarly, you can find some bright frescoes and a medium sized Buddhist statue in Gadhan Thekchoking Gompa, which is located in Manali. If you insist to go to some fantastic Wildlife Sanctuaries, then nothing can beat the Kullu Valley, which is home to as many as five wildlife sanctuaries. You will find a modest collection of the endangered species and they are estimated to have the largest collection of Himalayan Tahr. However, you are advised to take visit to the places during summer seasons.

Well, you have some spectacular Waterfalls, there around Manali and don’t miss the view of ‘Rahla Fall’ and ‘Palani Fall’. Some hot water springs, and some great adventurous experiences of ‘rafting’, ‘trekking’, skiing and paragliding make ‘Kullu and Manali’ as the experience of lifetime and make the best out from it.
