Aati Kya Khandala?..Khandala, Maharashtra

This line is very famous. It’s from the bollywood song featuring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji. The hero tells the heroine to go and enjoy in Khandala.
    
Khandala is a beautiful hill station in Pune, Maharashtra. Lonavla is its twin hill station. Khandala and Lonavla are situated 3 kms apart on the Western slopes of Sahyadris. The place Karla is situated 8 km from there. Khandala is only 3 hours by road from Mumbai and is a perfect weekend getaway. The natural beauty offers sightseeing options and there is opportunity for trekking also. Riding in a bicycle through Khandala will be heavenly experience. October to May is the best time for visit.


The sightseeing options include Duke’s Nose, Tiger’s Leap, Amrutanjan Point, Bhushi Lake and Karla and Bhaja Caves. Tiger’s Leap is a beautiful place that looks like a tiger leaping to the valley! Amrutanjan Point also is a high point to get a beautiful view. Duke’s nose is a cliff that looks like a pointed nose. It is named after Duke Wellington as he had a pointed nose. The historical rock cut caves Karla and Bhaja are situated 16 km away from Khandala. Karla is ancient Buddhist Cave. Bhushi Lake is a beautiful lake in Khandala with beautiful surroundings.
